Apple slices get smeared with almond butter and sprinkled with chopped nuts and fruit for a snack that satisfies any craving. These apple chips taste decadent and are packed with fiber and antioxidants.
From Gala to Granny Smith, whether you prefer sweet or tangy, there is an apple available to suit your tastebuds. But instead of merely eating your apple whole, give it a burst of flavor and nutritional goodness by adding your favorite healthy toppings. This is a no-bake treat that can be made in a pinch without fuss. You can core the apple and top the rings with whatever you desire, but the method I prefer is to slice the apple horizontally and remove the seeds with the tip of a knife for more surface area to pile on toppings (and less mess).
Apple chips make a great snack for adults and kids alike – it’s a fun way to get kids involved in the creative process of making recipes. When snack time arrives, simply set up the toppings and apple slices then let them go to town designing their own edible piece of art. Just be sure to eat the apple chips within 30 minutes, as apples start to brown quickly.

It’s easy to keep the chips Paleo-friendly with ingredients like pomegranate arils, dark chocolate and unsweetened, toasted coconut flakes. This snack also makes for a terrific pre- or post-workout snack, with the apples providing a source of carbohydrates and the almond butter adding a boost of protein. The antioxidant-rich toppings are the icing on the cake. I particularly love the combination of juicy pomegranate arils with a drizzle of dark chocolate. If you’re in the mood for something salty, give your apple cookies a sprinkle of sea salt.
