Sweet, salty and nutty, this maple bacon pecan granola works as a snack on its own or as the ideal topping for your favorite breakfasts, savory meals and even dessert!
Paleo granola may sound impossible—granola is usually based on oats and other grains—but this unique pecan granola tastes better than anything you’ll find on the cereal aisle, thanks to its sweet and salty maple bacon flavor.
We start with chopped pecans in lieu of oats; they’re sturdy, a little chewy and flavorful in their own right. We’d argue they’re even better than oats in that way. Next comes our sweet and spicy coating of coconut cream, maple syrup, an egg for binding, and cinnamon. Once baked in the oven, we’re left with a delightfully sweet pecan granola that can be used on its own, but why stop there?
Things are always better when there’s bacon—so of course, we add crispy and salty bacon bits (aka “bacon sprinkles”) to our granola. This makes for a sweet and salty combination just waiting to be paired with all the foods.

So how do you use this pecan granola in your kitchen? It’s delicious on its own or mixed with other nuts and dried fruits for a quick trail mix ideal for your next hike. It also tastes great on your favorite dairy-free yogurt for a complete breakfast that’s bound to perk up your morning. It can accompany savory dishes like roasted Brussels sprouts as a topping. It’s even wonderful as a dessert topping; crumble it over baked apples and pears, or serve it atop coconut milk ice cream like we did.
