Take a break from the coffee shop and be your own barista with this 3-ingredient moringa latte, chock-full of immune system boosting moringa powder.
Moringa oleifera is a small tree grown primarily in eastern countries. The leaves are used to make tea, powder and oil for a wide array of health remedies. Moringa can be added to smoothies, soups, or if you can get your hands on the fresh leaves, even added to salads. Moringa contains powerful amounts of phytonutrients, helping to aid the immune system in fighting infection and reducing inflammation. Moringa has an earthier, grassier flavor than matcha, so it can be an acquired taste. I like to balance the flavor with the sweet, creamy flavor of a latte for a soothing mood boost.
All you will need for this latte is raw honey, coconut milk and a quality moringa powder. Raw honey adds just the right amount of sweetness while amping up the minerals, amino acids and enzymes in the latte, something you don’t often get from your corner coffee shop. Coconut milk is perfect for frothing for a super silky end result. Be sure to use full-fat canned coconut milk with the cream on top.
Start by combining the moringa powder and honey in the bottom of your favorite mug. No need to stir—the heat from the coconut milk will dissolve the honey. If you happen to have a milk frother/steamer, that will yield the fluffiest latte, but if not, you can steam the coconut milk in a saucepan until small bubbles begin to form. Alternatively, the recipe can be combined in a blender and blended until milk is frothed. If you want to enjoy the mellow, revitalizing flavor of this latte in the warmer months, just pour it over ice and sip with a straw.
