Make date night easy with a One-Pan New York Strip Steak dinner for two – made in the oven!
One-pan wonder steak dinners are my favorite. They’re restaurant-quality meals you can enjoy in the comfort of your own home. They’re healthier than a steakhouse dinner because you control how they’re prepared, and they’re incredibly easy. All you need is a pan, an oven, and of course, the food. You can’t forget the food!
For this one-pan meal, all you need is a New York Strip Steak, asparagus, grass-fed butter, coconut oil, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. I used a Butcher Box New York Strip Steak. Since it’s high-quality meat and packed with natural flavor, you can go easy on the seasoning.
We’ve written about ButcherBox before, but here’s a quick recap: it’s a revolutionary company changing the way meat is eaten by delivering sustainable, local, grass-fed meat to your doorstep. Each cut is individually portioned, so it makes cooking convenient, easy, and (best of all) healthy.

To start the recipe, cover a baking sheet in foil and turn the broiler to high.
Next, chop about one inch off the ends off the asparagus. Rinse them clean, and pat dry with a paper towel. To prevent sogginess, you want the asparagus to be very dry before cooking.
Now you’re ready to add your steaks to the baking pan. Top each steak with a slice of butter, and sprinkle with a bit of salt and pepper. Arrange the asparagus around the steaks on either side, and coat them with a little coconut oil, thyme, and garlic powder.
Place the pan in the oven under the broiler – with the rack six inches from the heat. Broil 10 minutes for a medium-rare steak. No flipping required. However, if you like your steak well-done, then flip and cook on the other side for 5 minutes. When you take the pan out of the oven, cover with tin foil for 5 minutes – to let the juices really marinate.
After that, it’s all about eating. Transfer to two plates (or one – we won’t judge you) and enjoy.
