Full of healthy fats from coconut milk and antioxidants from dark chocolate, you’d never guess that this intensely rich chocolate drink is actually guilt-free. Made from a mixture of dark chocolate and raw cacao powder, this silky smooth drink brings hot chocolate to the next level.
This recipe calls for a dash of cinnamon, but you can also use peppermint extract or pumpkin spice instead. Or try adding a pinch of cayenne pepper for a subtle kick!

Start by slowly warming coconut milk with honey and vanilla in a saucepan. While the milk is heating, chop some unsweetened dark chocolate. When the coconut milk is hot but not boiling, add the chopped chocolate and cacao powder, stirring until all the chocolate is melted. Pour in a mug and top with toasted coconut chips.

- Large saucepan
- Whisk
Coconut Hot Chocolate:
- 1 can full-fat coconut milk
- 2 T raw honey
- 1 t vanilla extract
- ¼ cup dairy-free dark chocolate, chopped
- ⅛ cup raw cacao powder
- ½ t cinnamon
Garnish:
- Unsweetened toasted coconut chips
- Raw cacao powder
- In a large saucepan on low heat, whisk together the coconut milk, raw honey and vanilla extract, then bring to a light simmer.
- Whisk in the chopped chocolate and raw cacao powder. Continue whisking until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth, about 5 minutes.
- Remove from the heat and mix in the cinnamon.
- Serve in a mug topped with toasted coconut chips and a dusting of cacao powder.
Tips:
- Be sure not to boil the hot chocolate, or it may separate.
- For a less rich hot chocolate, add ⅓ cup water to thin it out.
